Lafollete Park was the winner of the 2007 Staples Dream Park Challenge with the Chicago Bears. This event marked the beginning of this endeavor in the Chicago area and was open to 14 local parks.
"It was amazing to see our entire community – from our youth sports teams to city officials – rally together to help
Lafollete Park receive the most votes. Thanks to the $25,000 grand prize, we’re making major improvements to our fields and equipment that will benefit local youth for years to come."
James Bailey, coach of the Lafollete Park Wildcats, spoke to the crowd about the impact of the grand prize and importance of fostering community spirit:
